Virtual, Part-time Career Coach/Advisor, Independent contractor (immediate)
Seeking a Career Advisor/Professional to join our team to help accelerate a fast-growing career coaching firm focused on college students and recent grads. The firm, Next Great Step®, is a leader in this market segment and is meeting a critical need to support career planning for young adults.
Our coaches utilize the Next Great Step® methodology that helps clients figure out a career path and then provide the tools to help them achieve success in the approach. Coaching is typically conducted weekly, via small group sessions or one-on-one, which may occur over video conferencing or phone.
Applicants should have a track record working with college students/early careerists – this can include work in a corporate/HR role, recruiting, college career services office, sales, corporate consulting, or management.
This is a part-time, flexible independent contractor position. Work is done virtually.
Major Responsibilities
Ability to quickly learn and apply the Next Great Step© approach and model
Assess the candidate skills and provide feedback using the NGS approach
Present and facilitate concepts confidently in a small group or 1-1 environment
Communicate effectively both written and verbally; strong attention to detail and follow-up
Conduct mock informational interviews and formal interviews
Create/edit strong resumes and LinkedIn profiles
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with our team, proactively meet candidates’ needs
Track student case progress and provide follow-up output from each session
Speak with parents to share progress updates
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher level of education required
Passion for launching early careers, delivering exceptional client service
5 years of experience in HR, Coaching, Sales, Corporate Consulting, or Management
Willing to learn the Next Great Step© approach of how to advise students
Experience advising colleagues or subordinates with a structured approach
Dynamic presentation and teaching skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills for mock interviews, professional communication letters and resumes
Experience speaking with executives, parents and students to sell a service
Knowledge of LinkedIn, Google Suite, Social Media platforms
Bonus: marketing and social media knowledge
